His commitment to education led him to teach medicine and utilize teleconferencing technology as group therapy since 1984. In 1999, he pioneered telepsychiatry for counseling at a college, later expanding this to providing teletherapy statewide for the University of Tennessee.

    Beyond his domestic work, Dr. Bell has made significant contributions to international healthcare. He has utilized teleconferencing technology to educate healthcare professionals in Ethiopia and Antigua, fostering global collaboration and knowledge sharing.

    Dr. Bell holds a distinguished position as one of the 43 Black training directors of 600 adult and child psychiatry residency programs. He is also among the 1100 Black psychiatrists out of over 50,000 psychiatrists in the United States. Recognizing the importance of diversity and promoting wellness, Dr. Bell remains dedicated to his profession.

    Dr. Bell’s educational journey began with his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College, followed by his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He further specialized in psychiatry training at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and received additional child psychiatry specialty training at Emory University.

    In his personal life, Dr. Bell is happily married to Dr. Chandra Miller Bell (PharmD). Together, they cherish their time spent with their younger and older family members in their Atlanta area.
