Summary

• Dr. Irena Karanetz joined New York Plastic Surgical Group in 2019. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Loyola University Chicago with Magna Cum Laude distinction. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from Rush Medical College in 2012. Throughout her education, Dr. Karanetz received numerous honors and awards for both academic and clinical excellence including induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Award for Excellence in Surgery, and the Academic Achievement Award from the American Medical Women’s Association. While in medical school, Dr. Karanetz was also actively involved in multiple community health clinics. During that time, she helped organize outreach events for the underserved patient population.
  
  As an avid researcher, Dr. Karanetz has authored a number of academic articles and presentations on topics including melanoma reconstruction, breast cancer reconstruction, and clinical outcomes following microsurgical breast reconstruction. In addition to breast reconstruction surgeries, Dr. Karanetz performs a wide variety of cosmetic procedures including breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, abdominoplasty, body contouring surgeries, rhinoplasty, and both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation.
  
  In addition to English, Dr. Karanetz is also proficient in Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, traveling, spinning, reading, and photography.
