Summary
- Ioan Lina, MD graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in 2012 with a degree in biomedical engineering, rated as one of the top programs in the country. Ioan went on to work in the Johns Hopkins Department of Neurosurgery Spine Center where he led several clinically translational projects that sought to evaluate the effects of BMP-2 and synthetic parathyroid hormone on spinal fusion outcomes in rabbits. He also developed a mouse model to study mesenchymal stem cell survival, proliferation, and migration in lumbar posterolateral spinal fusion. He completed his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2017 where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Honor Humanism Honor Societies. He went on to complete his residency training at the Johns Hopkins Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2023. As an NIH T32-funded research-tract resident, he worked with Dr. Alexander Hillel and focused his research efforts on innovative therapeutics, biomaterials, and understanding the pathophysiology of laryngotracheal stenosis. He is currently a laryngology fellow at the Vanderbilt Voice Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
