Summary
- I am board certified in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. I am also an American Board of Obesity Medicine certified physician.
As a pediatric endocrinologist, I manage children and adolescents, both as inpatients and outpatients, with various endocrinological and metabolic disorders. I am particularly involved in the care of youths with juvenile diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, calcium and bone disorders, abnormalities of growth and puberty, and disorders of sex development.
I was integrally involved in the development of the diabetes self-care management education program at the Diabetes center of the Women and Children’s hospital of Buffalo and its subsequent recognition by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for the Education Recognition Program. I was the Program Coordinator at the Diabetes Center of the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo (WCHOB) for the program until I moved from Buffalo in Sep 2022.
I am significantly involved in the care of youth with abnormal weight gain and insulin resistance. I worked with the Kaleida Health Foundation and the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo to develop a combined medical-surgical multi-disciplinary weight management center for children and adolescents.
Since my move from Buffalo, I joined as the medical director of the adolescent bariatric surgery program and associate professor of Pediatrics/Pediatric endocrinology at the Mount Sinai medical system in Manhattan, NY.
My research has focused on diabetes and childhood obesity, and I am specifically interested in the development of behavioral modification strategies for youth and families with these chronic medical conditions. I have been the PI/ CoPI on multiple studies and have mentored medical students, residents, and fellows from Univ at Buffalo.
