He offers state of the art care in robotic and minimally invasive techniques. In addition to offering complete robotic thoracic surgical services, his group has the only high volume surgeons in Louisiana for robotic cardiac surgery and serve as national proctors for the DaVinci Intuitive Surgical Robotic platform. Additional areas of expertise include aortic surgery, mitral valve surgery, TAVR, coronary bypass surgery, re-operative cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure & mechanical circulatory support, heart & lung transplantation, pacemaker for arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation surgery, lung & esophageal cancer surgery, and chest wall reconstruction.
Imtiaz is a Baton Rouge native and attended LSU for college, and medical school, and general surgery training. He received his cardiothoracic surgical training with an emphasis on robotics, aortic disease, valvular heart disease, coronary disease, and lung / esophageal cancer treatment at Cornell University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He also received advanced cardiothoracic training in heart/lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and advanced heart failure at The University of Pennsylvania.
