Summary
- Dr. Idris Amin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology with a secondary appointment in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He specializes in non-operative Sports Medicine and treats a wide-range of musculoskeletal disorders for all types of patients, from the well-trained athlete to the weekend warrior and casual jogger. With a patient-centered approach that focuses on optimizing both function and quality of life, Dr. Amin does not see a patient as a body part. Rather, he seeks to understand his patient’s movements and fully comprehend the problem before developing a personalized treatment plan. Dr. Amin also prioritizes patient education, and stresses injury prevention and healthy living. He utilizes his training in musculoskeletal ultrasound for both diagnostic applications and precise guidance of treatments.
Dr. Amin’s clinical interests include the use of regenerative therapies to treat musculoskeletal disorders, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and global health and wellness. He has published on these topics, and has been invited to lecture or proctor several workshops both locally and abroad. Dr. Amin is also passionate about medical education, and committed to serving as a mentor to the next generation of physicians.
Dr. Amin is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and in Sports Medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling the world with his wife, hiking, swimming, playing basketball, and rooting for his treasured New York sports teams.
