  • Hoyle Leigh, MD, is an Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry of UC San Francisco, CA. He completed his medical training with a residency in psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine after finishing an internship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. He earned his medical degree from Yonsei University College of Medicine in 1965 and later an M.A.H from Yale University in 1982. Dr. Leigh jointed the faculty of Yale University Department of Psychiatry in 1971, advancing to full Professor and Assistant Chief of Psychiatry in 1981. He came to the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine in 1989, assuming the position of Vice Chair for the Fresno Division of Psychiatry. His expertise includes psychosomatic medicine, telepsychiatry, and consultation-liaison psychiatry. Notably, he has contributed to the field through multiple publications including the "Handbook of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry" "Genes, Memes, Culture and Mental Illness - Toward an Integrative Approach", and "Global Psychosomatic Medicine and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry." His professional honors include being elected Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and other major psychiatric and medical organizations.
