Overview of Dr. Asbun
Horacio Asbun, M.D., FACS, is a surgical oncologist specializing in the treatment of cancers and diseases of the liver, gallbladder, biliary system and pancreas. He is chief of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at Miami Cancer Institute. Prior to this role, he served as director of the Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Program and chairman of General Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla.
Throughout his career, Dr. Asbun repeatedly has been named a Top Doctor by U.S. News & World Report and Castle Connelly Ltd. Dr. Asbun is actively involved in clinical research to improve treatment efficacy and patient outcomes. He has published more than 100 scientific articles and 30 book chapters and serves as editor-in-chief of the American College of Surgeons Multimedia Atlas and reviewer for numerous scientific journals. He directs and teaches national courses on surgery and speaks frequently at scientific conferences around the world, with more than 300 presentations to date. He also serves on the boards and committees of several national and international professional societies.
