Overview of Dr. Schade
Henning Schade, MD is a double-board-certified fellowship-trained oncologist who focuses on plasma cell and lymphoid diseases. He has led several important clinical studies that have investigated innovative treatment options for patients with multiple myeloma and Hodgkins’s lymphoma.
Born and raised in Hessen, Germany, Dr. Schade began his career as a licensed nurse. While working as a nurse in Germany, he completed medical school, after which he began training as an internal medicine resident and bone marrow transplant trainee. After several years, he moved to the US to continue his training with a residency in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He then completed a hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz in Aurora, CO followed by a dedicated bone marrow transplant fellowship at CBCI.
Dr. Schade has published and presented extensively regarding second allogeneic stem cell transplantation in patients with relapsed hematologic malignancy. His research interest is primarily in the treatment of plasma cell and lymphoid diseases, as well as immune reconstitution after autologous and allogenic stem cell transplantation.
In his free time, Dr. Schade loves to bake, especially sourdough bread, bagels and pizza. He also loves the outdoors and can be found in the mountains, hiking and skiing with his family or fishing with his kids. Dr. Schade is an enthusiastic fan of the Denver Nuggets, and he— of course – is a big fan of European soccer.
