Overview of Dr. Born

Hayley Born, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Columbia University in the Laryngology Division.

She completed the Sean Parker Fellowship in Laryngology at the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice at Weill Cornell in New York City. As part of this two-year fellowship, she attained a Master's degree in Clinical Investigation.

Hayley is a graduate of Yale University and went on to study medicine at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. During her medical school tenure, she completed a year of focused research with the New York University Voice Center. She went on to complete her residency training at the University of Cincinnati.

Hayley has been an active member of the Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery serving as a Resident Representative for her program and for Region 5 to the Section for Residents and Fellows for all 5 years of her residency. She has also served as the Delegate to the Society of University Otolaryngologists for the SRF. She currently serves on the General Council for the SRF as the Member at Large which she was elected to in the Fall of 2020. She previously served on the GC as the Board of Governors Socioeconomics and Grassroots Representative. She is a dedicated member of the Women in Otolaryngology Section, serving previously on the Communications Committee and the Leadership and Mentorship Committee and currently on the Program and Awards Committee. She is a member of the Airway and Swallowing Committee. She was named the Exemplary Senior Trainee of the Year at the WIO section meeting in 2019. Outside of the Academy, Hayley serves on The Triological Society Social Media and Culture Committee.

Hayley has a strong record in academics with over 20 published chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. She has presented at several national meetings. Her interests lie within laryngology, medical education, and social media in medicine.
