Overview of Dr. Born

Hayley Born, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Columbia University in the Laryngology Division's Center for Voice and Swallow.

She completed the Sean Parker Fellowship in Laryngology at the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice at Weill Cornell in New York City. As part of this two-year fellowship, she attained a Master's degree in Clinical Investigation. Hayley is a graduate of Yale University and went on to study medicine at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. During her medical school tenure, she completed a year of focused research with the New York University Voice Center. She went on to complete her residency training at the University of Cincinnati.

Currently, Hayley spearheads the clinical research program in the Laryngology Division. She is the medical student clerkship director and guides senior medical students through the application and match process. Hayley has been an active member of the Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery participating in many leadership roles and committee positions. She was named the Exemplary Senior Trainee of the Year at the WIO section meeting in 2019. She received the Holt Leadership Award in 2022 - awarded to the top trainee. She is a graduate member of the ALA, ABEA, and Trio.

Hayley has a strong record in academics with over 20 published chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. She has presented at several national meetings. Her interests lie within laryngology, medical education, and social media in medicine.
