- I am a board certified Colon Rectal Surgeon specializing in the management and surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases affecting the colon and rectum and small intestine. Special areas of clinical interest include: minimally invasive surgery technique - laparoscopic colectomy, transanal minimally invasive surgery; sphincter preserving surgery for rectal cancer; colonic J pouch reconstruction following low anterior resection; surgery for ulcerative colitis - ileal J pouch anal anastomosis; surgery for Crohn's Disease; treatment of hemorrhoids with emphasis on non operative management (hemorrhoidal banding etc); anal fissure surgery; surgery for rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, and chronic constipation; colonoscopy - screening, diagnostic and therapeutic (polypectomy, colonic stenting).
The Ochsner Clinic Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery offers subspecialty training as a one year residency in Colon Rectal Surgery. Currently, I serve as Department Vice Chair and Program Director of the Colon Rectal Surgery Fellowship. The fellowship is comprised of two clinical fellows and one basic science research fellow per year. In addition, we serve as faculty for the General Surgery Residency Program at the Ochsner Medical Center as well as clinical faculty for 3rd and 4th year medical students of the Ochsner Clinical School of the University of Queensland Medical School.
As a member of the Ochsner Medical Center staff, I serve as the on the Physican Excellence Committee.
