Medical degree obtained in 1987 at the University of Antwerp, Antwerp Belgium. Completed training in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill NC. Received the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Membership. In 1992, while at the Division of Critical Care Medicine at Saint Vincents Hospital, New York, NYC, received the Doctor William R Grace Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine for Clinical Excellence. Authored several publications pertaining to both Critical care and Cardiovascular diseases. Former Medical Director of the Coronary Care Unit at UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
More than 25 years of extensive experience in hospital care ( as Cardiologist, Intensivist and briefly Hospitalist),clinical research and clinical Cardiology outpatient practice settings.
Background in administrative and teaching responsibilities throughout both an academic and private practice career. Years of experience in a variety of cardiovascular procedures, including echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, nuclear imaging, cardiac catheterization and coronary CTA and other multiple other procedures related to the Critical Care setting.
