Summary

  • I am board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with Special Competence in Immunopathology. My experiences include serving as professor at three universities, Chief Medical Officer for ten hospitals in the VA and achieving the lowest Lab cost/patient, the lowest surgical mortality, and lowest radiology cost/patient in VHA. I served as State Commissioner for the College of American Pathologists. I am adept at optimizing laboratory utilization, improving quality and efficiency of operations.
    In medical research, I published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, received 14 federal grants as Principal or Co-investigator. I discovered two novel genes active in lungs. I served as the Chair of Institutional review boards for VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and University of Missouri-Kansas City.
    My teaching experiences include serving as director of Clinical Pathology Residency Program for University of Pittsburgh, Course Director for Second Year Pathology Course at University of Missouri-Kansas City and serving as the Course Director for the Clinical Pathology Elective Course for Medical Students and Residents at UMKC School of Medicine.
    I am currently serving as the Walter L. Shepeard Chair in Clinical Pathology at Georgia Regents University and GRU-MCG Medical Center, Augusta GA.
