Summary

  • I am a board-certified neurosurgeon, Professor and Chair of Neurological Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and Neurosurgeon-in-Chief at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. My clinical interests are in surgical treatment of cerebrovascular disease and complex tumors of the skull base.

    My lab has two main interests: 1) Vascular contributions to dementia including Alzheimer’s Disease; and 2) Underlying mechanisms and novel therapeutics for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

    Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is characterized by deposition of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide within walls of cerebral vessels (Fig. D)
