Summary
- Dr. Gregory Max Gosey, MD, MAS is an orthopedic foot & ankle surgeon at St. Alphonsus practicing at both the Nampa and Coughlin Clinic Boise locations.
As the son of a generalist orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Gosey began very early in life pursuing a career in medicine. Through frequent family trips out West coinciding with his father's ongoing orthopedic education, he fell in love with the mountains and snow skiing, securing an academic scholarship to University of Colorado Boulder where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society in connection with his undergraduate degree in Integrative Physiology. He also competed in big mountain freeride skiing events with the CU Freestyle Ski Team.
He returned for a time to his original home of Louisiana for medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center where he was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and then a general surgery internship at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans where he met his devoted and beloved wife.
Leading into residency, Dr. Gosey undertook a two-year post-graduate research fellowship in hip preservation surgery in San Diego jointly with a Clinical Research Master's program at UCSD, publishing his thesis project on hypermobility in the prestigious Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He then completed orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
After residency he completed his subspecialty training in foot and ankle surgery Brown University, which he selected as his top-choice for stellar mentorship and diverse clinical experience.
Outside of his rewarding career, Dr. Gosey remains passionate about skiing around his beloved home state of Idaho and the remainder of the Rocky Mountain West, sharing his enthusiasm with his wife and two young sons. In the summer months he spends time on the water and on the trails around Boise with his family.
