As the son of a generalist orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Gosey began very early in life pursuing a career in medicine. Through frequent family trips out West coinciding with his father's ongoing orthopedic education, he fell in love with the mountains and snow skiing, securing an academic scholarship to University of Colorado Boulder where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society during his undergraduate studies in Integrative Physiology. He also competed in big mountain freeride skiing events with the CU Freestyle Ski Team.
He returned for a time to his original home of Louisiana for medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center where he was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and then for a general surgery internship at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans where he met his devoted wife.
Leading into residency, Dr. Gosey undertook a two-year post-graduate research fellowship in hip preservation surgery in San Diego jointly with a Clinical Research Master's program at UCSD, publishing his thesis project on hypermobility in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He then completed orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
After residency he completed his subspecialty training in foot and ankle surgery Brown University, which he selected as his top-choice for stellar mentorship and diverse clinical experience and subsequently pursued a six-week preceptorship in Louisville, KY emphasizing ankle replacements. Most recently he has worked locum tenens ortho in Taos, NM.
Outside of his career, Dr. Gosey remains passionate about skiing around the mountain West, sharing his enthusiasm with his wife and two young sons. He has split time between Taos, Boise, and Lewiston. In the summer months he spends time on the water and on the trails around Idaho with his family.
