- Dr. Gorman is a former career U.S. Navy medical officer boarded in pediatrics, pediatric nephrology, and clinical informatics. His most recent position was at Defense Health Headquarters as Executive Director of the Defense Health Board, a federal advisory committee to the Department of Defense for health matters, and as the Chair of the Complex Pediatrics Clinical Community, the primary source of subject matter advice to the Department of Defense on health care issues related to children with and without special needs.
Dr. Gorman is a seasoned subspecialty clinician, health services researcher, former residency Program Director, and founder of the Military Health System's first big-data clinical research program. He has experience in administration, clinical research, and curricular development of graduate and undergraduate medical education programs. He is a practicing Pediatric Nephrologist, currently helping Advocate Childrens Hospitals (Chicago) and Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital (Cleveland) as a locums physician, and maintaining his relationships with the Military Health System and NIH Clinical Center. He also is a Medical Educator, Telemedicine Practitioner, boarded Clinical Informaticist, and Health Services and Epidemiology researcher. He is a Grand Rounds speaker on medical education, pediatric nephrology, health disparities, quality improvement, and the experience of the military child.
