- Govind Rangrass, MD, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at SSM Health/Saint Louis University Hospital, is a liver transplant anesthesiologist. After graduating from Yale University in 2008 with degrees in Medical Anthropology and South Asian Studies, he completed a Fulbright Scholarship in Public Health. He graduated from University of Michigan Medical School in 2013 and finished his anesthesiology residency at Washington University-St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He did his fellowship training in adult/pediatric liver transplant anesthesiology at UCLA, the largest solid organ transplant program in the United States. He joined the liver transplant team at University of Chicago in 2018, where he served on faculty for four years. He is also a Fellow of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (Boston, MA).
Nationally, he serves as an elected member of the ASA Committee on Transplant Anesthesia and ASA Committee on Patient Safety and Education. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rangrass is a perioperative outcomes researcher whose work has been published in several high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, including Anesthesiology, JAMA Surgery, British Journal of Anaesthesia, Anesthesia and Analgesia, Annals of Surgical Oncology, and the Journal of Clinical Transplantation.
