- Dr. Sharafsaleh is double board-certified in geriatric medicine and family medicine. She received her Master's of Science from the University of Utah in Gerontology. She then received her medical doctorate from the Ross University School of Medicine. Her residency training in family practice was completed at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. After becoming board-certified in Family Medicine, she furthered her education by completing a one-year fellowship solely dedicated to geriatric medicine at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Sharafsaleh served on staff at Wake Forest Medical Center as a primary care physician and geriatrician prior to starting her very own geriatric medicine fellowship at Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge in Morganton, NC. While in Morganton for 5 years, Dr. Sharafsaleh trained physicians, such as Dr. Marshall, to become our nation's next geriatricians. Dr. Sharafsaleh takes a holistic approach to care, ensuring that patients age well, remain independent, and maintain the highest quality of life possible. Dr. Sharafsaleh's areas of focus and interest in geriatric medicine include multi-morbidity, frailty, polypharmacy and deprescribing, memory disorders, delirium prevention, and care. She is the creator of the blog and podcast GeriAcademy which provides free education on aging-related topics. Dr. Sharafsaleh prides herself on living a balanced life. Having grown up in Salt Lake City, Utah, she loves hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. She is also a dedicated mother to three beautiful children ....and three dogs!
