Summary

  • Dr. Ginger Lovingood is a board certified psychiatrist. She received her B.A. in Biology from Maryville College, with a minor in Chemistry. An East Tennessee native, she followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, Dr. Frank Smith Lovingood. She earned her MD at East Tennessee State University. While at Quillen College of Medicine, she was selected to join the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. From there, she attended Duke University psychiatry residency program where she served as the Chief Resident of the outpatient clinic in her final year.

Dr. Lovingood began her practice in a community mental health center treating the full range adult psychiatric conditions. She then focused on geriatric mental health and for the past two and half years has been dedicating her clinical time to the studying and practice of geriatric psychiatry.

Dr. Lovingood has particular interest in the mind body connection, psychiatric manifestations of medical and neurological diseases, as well as psychotherapy. She believes strongly in holistic treatment through a combination of medication management, psychoeducation, exercise, psychotherapy and healthy eating.

Dr Lovingood currently lives with her husband in Blount County and in her free time helps her father manage their family farm. She enjoys the outdoors: camping, hiking and exploring new places.
