In October 2021, she transitioned to full-time practice in addiction medicine and was appointed as the Medical Director of ICCS. She continues to provide coverage at the Providence Detoxification Unit in Everett, Washington.

Dr. Cadena-Forney has also served as a medical consultant for the Spanish news program Univision Seattle and has been the medical director for the Pregnancy Resource Clinic of Snohomish County since March 2015.
