- Dr. George Wang is a board-certified internist and geriatrician. He is certified in functional medicine and acupuncture, and has an integrative and functional medicine practice in Denville, NJ.
Dr. Wang completed his internal medicine residency and geriatric medicine fellowship at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. After completing a geriatric medicine fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he joined the full-time faculty in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology there, and served as an attending physician as well as a clinical researcher. He was also formerly on the full-time faculty at Columbia University Medical Center. His research has been published in many peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, American Journal of Epidemiology, and Science Translational Medicine.
In his research focused on the immune system in aging, he was mentored by Dr. Peter C. Doherty, Nobel laureate, who discovered the nature of T-cell mediated immunity. He has a PhD in Clinical Investigation from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
In his practice, Dr. Wang brings integration of scientific evidence and holistic healing to the care of patients. He emphasizes whole-person healing, in mind and body, and the power of food as medicine in reversing chronic diseases. As a physician-scientist and a former recipient of multiple clinical research grants, he also brings a sharp and critical evaluation of the latest research evidence into the proper perspective.
