Summary
- I am the Chief of Trauma, Emergency Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at the Massachusetts General Hospital and also the Director of the MGH Hernia Center. My main clinical interest focuses on the care of patients with severe trauma or non-traumatic emergency surgical conditions. My elective practice includes complex hernia repairs and robotic surgery. My research revolves around trauma and emergency surgery issues with emphasis on: a) innovative methods of bleeding control and b) outcome prediction via artificial intelligence algorithms. I have authored/co-authored over 600 peer-review papers, 40 books and book chapters, and numerous other publications. As a Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, I dedicate time in teaching medical students and surgical trainees, and directing trauma/surgical courses in the US and around the world.
