- Dr. George M Comas is a cardiovascular surgeon based in Troy and Royal Oak, MI. He specializes in adult cardiothoracic surgery, with sub-specialization in minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery, including robotic mitral valve repair.
He has extensive experience in complex aortic surgery, coronary bypass including off pump CABG and MIDCAB, reoperative cardiac surgery, and mitral valve repair. He also performs lung surgery, including minimally invasive/VATS and robotics.
He completed his undergraduate education at Princeton University and his medical education at Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed residency and fellowships in thoracic surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University) as well as extra fellowship training at Emory University School of Medicine.
He serves as an attending cardiothoracic surgeon at Beaumont Health System. Prior to this he was in private practice in Florida. In addition he has had faculty appointments at West Virginia University Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Comas has published numerous articles on robotic-assisted cardiac procedures and serves as a principal investigator in clinical trials on post-operative anticoagulation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
