    Dr. Petruccelli is a Maryland native, who graduated from the Heights School in Potomac, where he played basketball and soccer. He developed a special interest and passion in sports medicine, particularly shoulder surgery.

    Dr. Petruccelli graduated from the George Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science before receiving a certificate in physiology at the Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados in 2006 before relocating to New York City to finish his residency at the St. Vincent’s Hospital & Medical Center and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in 2011.

    In 2012, Dr. Petruccelli traveled to the west coast to complete his fellowship at San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine, during which he worked closely with players from Major League Baseballs’ San Diego Padres. He also assisted the team physician for the San Diego State Aztecs. During his fellowship, he published surgical technique videos for national orthopaedic society meetings.

    Recognized for his care, skill, and precision, Dr. Petruccelli received the "Top Doctors" Washingtonian Magazine Award in 2017-2019. He is the Orthopaedic Section Chief for Shady Grove Medical Center.

    Dr. Petruccelli is a member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, AO Trauma, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Petruccelli supports the athletic programs at Georgetown Preparatory School and his high school alma mater, The Heights School.
