Summary
- I earned my medical degree in 1984 from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Mexico. I trained in Internal medicine, nephrology, hypertension, critical care, and earned a degree as Master in Public Health between 1989 and 2003. In 1996, I joined the School of Medicine at the University of Miami. During my time as faculty in the Department of Medicine, I have been involved in the development and establishment of a successful clinical research program in the Division of Nephrology with the accrual of 24 research grants, more than 100 publications in peer review Journals and textbooks. I have an ongoing commitment to improving kidney disease outcomes among racial and ethnic minorities throughout the clinical research program at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.
