Summary
- I practice non-operative sports and musculoskeletal medicine. Board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, I obtained an additional year of spine and sports medicine training through a fellowship, passed a national certification examination and am board-certified in Sports Medicine. I have also passed the boards for Pain Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. I specialize in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Common examples of injuries I treat include:
• Acute injuries (such as ankle sprains, muscle strains, knee & shoulder injuries, back strains, and fractures)
• Overuse injuries (such as rotator cuff and other forms of tendonitis/tendinosis, stress fractures)
• Medical and injection therapies for osteoarthritis
I have also received additional training in the non-musculoskeletal aspects of sports medicine such as:
• Concussion (mild traumatic brain injury) and other head injuries
• Athletes with chronic or acute illness (such as infectious mononucleosis, asthma or diabetes)
• Nutrition, supplements, ergogenic aids, and performance issues
• Exercise prescription for patients who want to increase their fitness
• Injury prevention
• “Return to play” decisions in the sick or injured athlete
• Recommendations on safe strength training and conditioning exercises
• Healthy lifestyle promotion
I maximize non-operative treatment, guide appropriate referrals to physical and occupational therapists and chiropractors, and if necessary, expedite referrals to orthopedic/sports surgeons. Additionally, I am experienced in ultrasonography used for diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Regenerative medicine or "orthobiologics” is another non-operative approach I employ.
