  • Dr. Francisco Soto is an Associate Professor of Medicine and chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division at the University of Tennessee (UT), Graduate School of Medicine, Knoxville, TN.
    He is also the director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program at UT Medical Center.

    He is a respected clinician and researcher with over 20 years of experience in pulmonary hypertension, cardiopulmonary hemodynamics, and pulmonary manifestations of heart disease.

    He is the current Vice Chair of the pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) section of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He has also served on the editorial board of Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension, the official journal of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA).

    Areas of excellence include the use and interpretation of cardiothoracic ultrasonography (POCUS) and the evaluation of cardiopulmonary hemodynamics, including performing right heart catheterizations in the cardiac cath lab.

    He completed his MBA in December 2023 at UT Haslam School of Business, focusing on lean process management, strategic planning, service line development, and brand growth.

    His peers selected him for the previous Best Doctors in America® award list between 2007-2020.
