- Francisco G. La Rosa, MD, FCAP, is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and a member of the University of Colorado Cancer Center. A native of Lima, Peru, he earned his MD there and completed residencies in Clinical Pathology and Anatomic/Clinical Pathology at the University of Colorado. Board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, he specializes in genitourinary, renal, and heart pathology and is an expert in pathology informatics.
Dr. La Rosa is actively involved in clinical practice, research, and education, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. His hobbies, photography and videography, enhance his educational contributions, including the creation of teaching websites. He is a member of the College of American Pathologists, American Urological Association, Peruvian American Medical Association, Society of Cardiovascular Pathology, and Association for Pathology Informatics.
He collaborates on research grants in genitourinary pathology and serves as a member and study coordinator for the Southwest Oncology Group Genitourinary Committee. Dr. La Rosa works on advanced diagnostics and treatments for prostate and urinary cancers and is a faculty member of Grand Rounds in Urology, contributing to innovative educational activities in urology.
A graduate of the Teaching Scholar Program at the University of Colorado, he mentors medical students, residents, and fellows, earning recognition for teaching excellence. Internationally, he is an Honorary Professor at the National University Federico Villarreal in Lima, Peru. He co-founded and administers the Asociación Iberoamericana de Telesalud y Telemedicina (AITT) and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Revista de la AITT, advancing telehealth in Latin America.
He is an inductee of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legacy Member of the Academy of Medical Educators, Univ. of Colorado underscoring his commitment to medical education.
