Summary
- I am a board certified cardiologist sub specialized in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, cardiac transplantation and pulmonary hypertension. My clinical activities have focused on this population exclusively since 1995. My training and work experience also includes immunology, stem cell and vascular biology, and the use of molecular diagnostics.
The University of Iowa Cardiomyopathy Treatment Program is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary service line within the University of Iowa Heart and Vascular Center. Pulmonary arterial hypertension care is an integrated service within the program and is supported by both cardiology and pulmonary specialists. As Director, I participate in multiple clinical trials, maintain a longitudinal biobank for cardiovascular disease, and direct a fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation. I routinely evaluate and treat people with advanced heart failure and those who have received advanced cardiac therapies such as cardiac transplant and mechanical circulatory support devices. My pulmonary hypertension practice is limited to acute and critical care of those individuals.
