He completed his training at Harvard and MIT is an Assistant Professor of Oncology and Co-Director of Genetics and Biochemistry at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Dr. Batalini leads research in the fields of genetics and genomics, with expertise on precision oncology, liquid biopsies, DNA damage and repair, and the development of new treatments for cancer patients. His clinical and research focus includes: (1) Precision medicine: identifying genetic alterations unique to each patient to guide treatment choices or clinical trial participation. (2) Liquid biopsies: studies the incorporation of new technologies to individualize care and bring research findings to patient care. (3) DNA damage and repair: development of genomic biomarkers of homologous recombination repair. (4) Hereditary cancers: expertise on the treatment of patients with strong family history of cancer or carriers of hereditary mutations of cancer risk genes, including BRCA1, BRCA2, and others.
