Summary
- I have been in the health care industry since 2018 (excluding medical school) as a physician and educator. My skills are in inpatient pediatrics. I am a board certified pediatrician currently in pediatric critical care fellowship with goal of being a board eligible pediatric intensivist in 2025.
My professional interests include ventilators, point of care ultrasound, clinical informatics, simulation and medical education. During my training, my research has focuses on evaluation of weaning off mechanical ventilation comparing Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist (NAVA) and evaluation of the diaphragm with ultrasound with weaning. With the assistance of my research mentor, we were able to secure a couple research grants for the study. In addition, I have been one of the lead providers in a quality and safety initiative project aiming at reducing unplanned extubation rates in our unit. I regularly lead lectures for residents and nursing staff and am involved in high fidelity pediatric ICU simulations. Furthermore, I created the pediatric critical care handbook for our resident physicians. I have completed EPIC physician builder certifications, have joined the physician builder and analyst committee at VCU Health System, and have been contributing towards several EPIC related projects. Additionally, I am fluent in Spanish in addition to having certification from the Language Services Association here at VCU.
