Summary
- He is an assistant clinical professor of medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine, and the medical director of the EDOC in Sterling, Virginia. Following an internship and residency in internal medicine at TJUH of Jefferson Medical College, he completed clinical and research fellowships in diabetes, endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition at the Mayo Clinic and Foundation for Medical Research in Rochester, Minnesota. He is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and American College of Physicians. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has a subspecialty certification in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Clinical research interests include the interplay between insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion in the natural history of type 2 DM and the epidemic of vitamin D deficiency. He is the course co-director of the AACE/Cleveland Clinic Intensive Review of Endocrinology. He has been a reviewer and contributor for many recent AACE Medical Guidelines and algorithms for DM, lipids, and obesity. He is a member of the AACE Obesity Scientific Committee and a contributor to the 2014 advanced framework for the diagnosis of obesity as a chronic disease. He has served the AACE in numerous capacities, including on the Board of Directors and as chair of the International Committee and Diabetes and Obesity scientific committees. He is on the editorial board of many peer-reviewed journals, including Endocrine Practice, and is published in the American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Endocrine Practice, Diabetes Care, and Endocrine Trends. He has been selected by his peers in Washingtonian and Northern Virginia Magazine as a top doctor. He has lectured nationally and internationally on diabetes and endocrinology in over 35 countries and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the AACE Young Investigator Award, and research grants from the Endocrine Fellows Foundation.
