  • Dr. Farah Zeba Zia is a Board Certified Physician, a practicing Internist and Medical Oncologist, currently working at The National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Treatment & Diagnosis, as well as The Center for Cancer Research, Women's Malignancies Branch, and is an active member of The Warren G. Magnuson Clinical Center Medical Staff. Dr. Zia received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine, and subsequently completed a residency in Internal Medicine at The George Washington University Hospital. Thereafter, she completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology through The National Cancer Institute & National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. During this time, she developed an interest in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies and breast cancer, training under the mentorship of Sandra M. Swain and JoAnne Zujewski. Dr. Zia's continued focus is on gynecologic and breast cancers, clinical trials, drug development, oncology symptom management, and research and development of integrative modalities to enhance the lives of our patients.

    Dr. Zia takes part in the education of our next generation of physician/scientists. She is on the faculty of 2 courses that are part of an on-going training curriculum for NIH clinical and post-doctoral fellows, presented by the NCI Center for Cancer Training, within the NCI Office of the Director: (1)Translational Research in Clinical Oncology and (2) Integrative Medicine. Dr. Zia also participates in the Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) fellowship program, and has successfully mentored several students who have gone on to complete medical school.

    Dr. Zia engages in research, development, and support of Integrative Health Modalities to help better the lives of all patients, including those with cancer. She is an active member of a Trans-NIH Committee on Integrative Medicine, using the platform to spear-head initiatives across the NIH and through public-private partnerships.
