Summary
- Eve A. Wood, M.D., is an internationally esteemed coach, psychiatrist, teacher, award-winning author, keynote speaker, and leader in the field of integrative medicine. She has always been a doctor’s doctor, an empathic coach, and a well-being champion to all who know her. Every position she has held for the past 35 years has involved coaching others to realize their potential!
She has been a professor in numerous settings, the medical director of an eating disorder center, a methadone maintenance and addiction treatment center, a general psychiatry center as part of a hospital, and one that was freestanding. She has been the chief medical officer for a large group of mental health facilities in Colorado, and most recently was the medical director of integrative services at Centura Health, a large health system in Colorado. In that role she was responsible for physician well-being, and the coordination of care across many aspects of a large health system.
She left Centura after 3 years, due to increasing concerns about the “care model” as it currently exists. In her first two-and-a-half years at Centura, she saw patients for 6,599 clinical appointments, while in her earlier years of practice, she might have had that many visits in 10 years! Her experience at Centura is reflective of changes in the system nationwide. There is minimal time for doctors to get to know patients and sort best options.
Dr. Wood has been in practice, nonstop for 35 years. She has written and presented all over the world, and even spent a year and a half in New Zealand as a senior medical consultant to the behavioral health system there. She has made her mark in the field by working to bridge body, mind, and spirit in an empowering model of whole-person healing. She has authored three books and two self-help kits; and won numerous awards for her work. She is a deeply concerned about her clients, friends, and colleagues.
