Summary
- Capt Erika Hallak is an incredibly adaptable and quick-paced physician and leader. Straight out of residency she volunteered to go to Kunsan AB where she became the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director at Kunsan AB, leading 10 paramedics & EMTs, whose team won 2023 8th FW Cross Functional Team OTY. For over 3 months she single-handedly sustained clinic operations as the sole provider for the base during a runway closure project, for which she was coined by the DHA INDOPACOM Director Major General Heck. During this short tour she also covered Flight Commander duties for 1 month and intermittently served as Chief of Medical Staff for a cumulative total of 1 month. //////////
After PCS to JB Andrews, she volunteered for a 6-month deployment to AB101 in Niamey, Niger, arriving just after a tumultuous coup d'etat in the country. She served as Medical Director for Role 1 Clinic Operations, Public Access Defibrillator Program, Walking Blood Bank operations, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) training for Security Forces. She introduced and taught 4 staff Integrative Medicine techniques to return injured personnel back to duty rapidly. She quickly learned the duties outside of her PAFSC and managed a $105K Medical Logistics supply account for Role 1 operations and stepped in as Primary Pharmacist and Disinterested Drug Inventory Officer. Finally she was selected to take over as Flight Commander in the last 4 months of her deployment in addition to all of these ongoing duties. //////////
She is now serving as the Medical Director of the Family Health Clinic at Malcom Grow Medical Clinics at JB Andrews, MD, where she continues to practice full Primary Care and Acupuncture/Integrative Medicine.
