Summary

  • Dr. Sigler in an experienced, board certified retina specialist treating all aspects of medical and surgical disorders of the eye. Dr. Sigler began his career following a strong high school interest in science with a degree in Biology from SUNY Albany. Following his MD at SUNY Buffalo, he proceeded to complete an ophthalmology residency at Yale New Haven Hospital and the Yale Eye Center. There was elected chief resident by his instructors. Dr. Sigler maintained a focus on vitreoretinal diseases and uveitis throughout his residency, and went on to complete an intensive two and a half year fellowship at the Charles Retina Institute and Hamilton Eye Institute. During his time there, he became proficient in thousands of intraocular procedures focused on medical and surgical retinal diseases, uveitis, and complications from trauma and other eye surgeries. In addition, he personally authored dozens of peer-reviewed scientific journal articles. He is one of few physicians with first scientific descriptions and original discoveries, and is a reviewer for many research publications. He has been active as primary investigator in numerous clinical trials, bringing the availability of cutting edge research to his patients. A native of Long Island, Dr. Sigler returned after his training to serve the community of his home region and has treated thousands of patients in the area for over a decade. Dr. Sigler has since frequently been called upon by his colleagues to act as second and third opinion for complicated and rare retinal conditions, and is one of few doctors in New York that performs advanced lens procedures following complicated cataract surgery. He maintains a philosophy of early and preventative treatment for eye disease, and has spent years developing minimally invasive and pain-free techniques for complex retinal conditions. Dr. Sigler remains committed to the highest level of quality, education, and compassion for all patients.
