- Dr. Eric Nicholson provides Individual, Parent, Couples and Family Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Exposure-Based Therapies for those suffering from Addictive and Psychiatric Disorders, including Autism Spectrum, Mood Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder/OCD-Spectrum Disorders (Emetophobia, Hoarding, Perfectionism), Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (trichotillomania, skin picking), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, Social Phobia, Panic, Agoraphobia, Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics/TS. Dr. Nicholson also provides Accelerated Resolution Therapy for PTSD and Specific Phobias.
Dr. Nicholson addresses parental accommodation and enabling behaviors that promote and maintain maladaptive coping behaviors and disruptive symptoms in children and emerging adult patients.With Parent Management Training sessions parents learn to implement effective Contingency Management strategies to improve their child's behavior and mental health. Utilizing techniques associated with Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Dr. Nicholson assists parents to eliminate accommodating ("enabling") behaviors in order to improve their relationships with their child by providing parental support, demonstrating confidence in their child and encouraging them to implement the therapeutic modalities that help their child recover from depression, anxiety disorders, OCD/OCD spectrum disorders and tics.
Dr. Nicholson spends the time necessary to address his patients' needs by routinely spending multiple hour sessions once or more a week (for a flat fee per session) to encourage participation, treatment adherence and improved outcomes. He also addresses peer-socialization, sleep, exercise, and nutrition.
Dr. Nicholson prescribes psychiatric medications only for his own therapy patients.
Dr. Nicholson does not accept any form of health insurance/Medicare or Medicaid but will provide a receipt for patients who can file for out-of-network benefits.
