He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, his M.D., Ph.D. degrees from University of Michigan Medical School (with Vishva Dixit), internal medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and his medical oncology fellowship from Stanford. Dr. Humke performed post-doctoral training with Matthew Scott and Rajat Rohatgi in Hedgehog signaling and was on the staff at Stanford before going on to Genentech as a medical director for 9 years.
