- Dr. Mohamed is a partner of Chicago Cardiology Institute and Director of Structural Heart and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Therapy Division. His areas of expertise include structural heart disease interventions including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve repair using Mitraclip, left atrial appendage occlusion (Watchman), closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect, and complex coronary artery interventions including the use of mechanical circulatory support, endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (EVAR), peripheral artery disease interventions for symptom relief, wound healing and limb salvage, and endovascular treatment of venous insufficiency. Dr. Mohamed’s philosophy is providing state of the art comprehensive cardiovascular care in an environment of shared decision-making and old school personal attention.
After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cairo, he completed residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Maimonides Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He then worked for several years as an interventional cardiologist in the Chicagoland area before joining the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he completed an advanced structural heart fellowship focusing on trans-catheter heart valve therapies.
He is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine.
