Dr. Eleanor Barone is a dual boarded plastic surgeon and clinical informatician based in the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her clinical time is at the Brooklyn VAMC, and the rest of her duties are through the VA Central Office.
She completed her medical degree at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 1992. Dr. Barone pursued her residency in surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System from 1992 to 1999, followed by a residency in plastic surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University from 1999 to 2001. Her clinical informatics fellowship was through the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System at the Nashville VAMC, with masters work at Vanderbilt Department of Biomedical Informatics. Prior to this she was in private practice with certificate courses through Columbia University Department of Biomedical Informatics as well as National Library of Medicine Informatics Survey course at Wood's Hole.
