- An internationally recognized expert in infertility, Dr. Eldon Schriock has been at the forefront of assisted reproductive technology since 1981. He was a member of the medical team that performed the first in-vitro fertilization treatment in Northern California.
Dr. Schriock is Board Certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Dr. Schriock is a native of Ness City, Kansas. He obtained his MD degree from Northwestern University where he also completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed a Reproductive Endocrinology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. After his fellowship training, he was appointed to the faculty at the University of Tennessee. During his time at the University of Tennessee, he continued his dedication to infertility research and became an expert laparoscopic surgeon.
In 1990, Dr. Schriock re-joined the UCSF IVF Program and later became its Director. While at UCSF, he concentrated on infertility patient care and personally treated thousands of patients. Dr. Schriock is a dedicated physician educator, with many of his students currently leading IVF programs across the US, fourteen of whom are practicing in the Bay Area. His innate teaching ability has not only been appreciated by medical students and physicians, but also by his patients.
Dr. Schriock remains active in fertility research, and has authored numerous articles for medical journals.
He takes interest in and has expertise with couples whose IVF treatment has been unsuccessful at other clinics. He is keenly attuned to the psychological repercussions of those undergoing ART treatments and works to sensitize the medical community to a psychologically-informed approach to patient care.
His interests outside of medicine include biking, yoga, skiing, meditation and spending time with his family.
