- Dr. Eittel E. Oppenheimer is a minimally invasive surgeon practicing in the community setting as member of the Ocala Surgical Group, in affiliation with HCA Florida West Marion Hospital. He formerly held a position as Assistant Professor at the University of Florida and the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Fl. He received his medical degree from the Ponce Medical Sciences Campus and completed his surgical residency at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. Dr. Oppenheimer then completed his minimally invasive foregut and bariatric surgery training at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fl. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Oppenheimer was employed as an academic surgeon at the University of Florida Health in Gainesville. He has transitioned to community practice where he performs a wide variety of complex bariatric and foregut surgery. He has been in surgical practice for more than 10 years, and specializes in surgical education, academic surgical practice, foregut surgery, bariatric surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and surgical simulation. His specialty interests include benign esophageal and gastric disease, GERD, esophageal motility disorders, revisional hernia repair and bariatric surgery.
