- 40 years as a PA in emergency medicine and urgent care, 20 of those years were spent in rural family medicine and emergency medicine. I am active in Washington death with dignity as a board member and provider. Death with dignity offers the option to terminally ill patients to choose when they die. It is a sacred choice during one of life's most intimate milestones. It's not for everyone. All patients deserve the option for this final rite of passage surrounded by family and friends to die with dignity.
