Summary

  • I am a young board-certified Hospital Physician/M.D. with some unique background training in cardiology. During a medical fellowship is when I deeply realized the limits and shortfalls in treating vascular disease within that specialty. "If all you have is a hammer" (catheter), "all your solutions look like nails" (PCI). Following my invaluable experience in cardiology, echocardiography, procedures and cardiac catheterization, I am passionately pursuing retraining in Surgery. I bring medicine and cardiology skillsets to the field of Surgery desiring to more definitively benefit patients including Minimally Invasive Direct Coronary Bypass & Total Arterial Revascularization, than repetitive and ineffective PCIs.

I've written and published my first book on medicine during Residency. I am writing a book on Cardiovascular Essentials for Surgical Trainees, as well as my unique journey from Internal Medicine/cardiology fellow courageously switching to pursue my first love, Surgery.

In addition to journal publications and research experience, I have won Research/scholarly awards during training, served on leadership committees including ACC/FIT, GME-level and Executive-GME committees, as well as two Ethics boards. I deeply enjoy clinical education and strongly desire to continue as a Clinician-Educator as I enter practice.

As an avid learner of medical history and philosophy, one of my favorite references from Sir William Osler is his address at University of Pennsylvania where he quotes Robert Louis Stevenson in describing Physicians as "A white flower of society"–with a mantle of responsibility, leadership, and influence. I personally aspire to & believe in Physicians as leaders in their communities. I personally have big goals for philanthropy, education, and community involvement. And being active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as well as positively impacting the lives of patients & colleagues around me.
