- Dr. Eduardo Jardim Simões is Alumni of HMI Distinguished Professor of the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics and Medical Epidemiology, Director of the Center for Medical Epidemiology and Population Health, University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia, United States (2023-present). He was Chair of the Department of Health Management and Informatics, University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia, United States (2011-2023). He was director of the Prevention Research Program (PRC-Office) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS-US), Atlanta, United States (2003-2011). He was a State Epidemiologist and Chief of the Office of Epidemiology in the Missouri Department of Health, USA (1995-2002). He was Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University School Public Health, jointly appointed at the School of Medicine (1995-2002). He was a Visiting Associate at the CDC/DHSS-US (1991-1993) and an associate researcher at Emory University School of Medicine (1994-1995). He was a primary care physician (1980-1989), Director of the Primary Health Care Clinics and a Public Health Services Officer at URB-Recife and Secretariat of Health of Recife, Brazil (1984-1989). His Medicine degree is from Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas, Universidade de Pernambuco-UPE, Brazil (1976-1981). He has diploma and Master of Science degrees in community health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London (1986- 87). He obtained his master's degree in public health from Emory University School of Public Health (1989-1991). He is a member of the American College of Epidemiology (United States), reviewer and editor of over 20 international medical journals. He has published 174 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 15 book chapters and 27 reports. He has made over 150 presentations at international health conferences.
