He earned his medical degree from the prestigious Cornell University, graduating in the top of his class and with honors in surgery. He then completed his general surgery residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. During his surgery residency, he devoted an additional two years to full time research on metabolism. His research during this time won numerous awards and has been published and presented nationally. He further honed his techniques with a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Duke University, where he trained and worked with the leaders in the field of bariatric surgery.
