Summary

  • Dr Edgar Chavez, is a distinguished board-certified family physician with over 20 years of professional experience, recognized for his exceptional patient care, expertise, and leadership. He obtained his MD degree from Stanford University and completed his residency in Family Medicine at White Memorial Hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Chavez decided to pursue his dream of serving the low-income community of South Central Los Angeles where he grew up following his immigration to the United States from El Salvador. In 2007 he founded Universal Community Health Center (UCHC) a Federally Qualified Health Center. Under his guidance, UCHC has grown from a single site to six health centers and two mobile health clinics, including one School-Based Health Clinic. UCHC provides full-scope preventive comprehensive care, including OB/GYN, Behavioral Health, Nutrition, and Dental. As a highly regarded Safety Net Clinic, UCHC has become a true medical home to over 15,000 Angelinos. Dr. Chavez’s and UCHC’s exceptional work has been instrumental in bridging the gap in access to care, particularly for those in poverty-stricken areas. Dr. Chavez likes to live at the intersection of where health meets technology. At UCHC he has implemented eClinicalWorks desktop and iPad version and customized workflows to fit the needs of the community clinic. He has helped and pioneered new ways to do telehealth for the underserved. Dr Chavez has implemented several Remote Patient Monitoring programs that include TytoCare, iHealth, and Gojji.
