Summary

  • I am the William S. Adams Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Chair and Executive Medical Director of the Department of Medicine of the David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Health. My research interests are in the cardiovascular complications of diabetes, the role of insulin resistance in heart failure and the contribution of mitochondrial dysfunction to insulin resistance and the cardiac complications of diabetes. I also lead the professional career mentorship program of the endocrine society (FLARE) that is targeted to fostering the career development of underrepresented minorities in endocrine-related investigative careers.
