  • Dr. Heron is a physician-executive and proven visionary leader with over 20-year track record of leading large integrated oncology programs through conception, development, implementation of innovative clinical programs, quality assurance, and practice acquisition and integration throughout the world. In this capacity, he has managed several hundred physicians including junior & mid-level faculty, resident physicians and medical students in the tradition of the biopsychosocial model. He has authored over 600 journal articles, book chapters, monographs and abstracts. He has also led several commercial entities including remote treatment planning and clinical pathways ensuring synergies in academics, clinical research, and business domains.

    In his current role as Enterprise Medical Director for Oncology Services for Bon Secours Mercy Health, a 50-hospital comprehensive network, the 3rd largest in the United States, he coordinates teams of Medical, Radiation and Surgical Oncologists in delivering state-of-the-art oncology care across 8 states. As Professor of Radiation Oncology, Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, he has focused on pioneering re-irradiation strategies using SRS & SBRT for head & neck cancers, oligometastatic disease amongst others including the integration with immunotherapy

    He received his medical degree from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and has been in practice 22 years. He specializes in stereotactic Radiosurgery (intracranial & extra cranial), breast cancer, central nervous system cancer, and head & neck.
