Summary

  • Over the past decade, my professional focus centered on emergency radiology and neuroradiology in Wisconsin. However, the landscape shifted dramatically with the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24, 2022, prompting a significant pivot. Since then, I've embraced a full-time role as a medical humanitarian activist, propelled by a profound personal connection to my wife's native country.

As a family of physicians deeply embedded in both the U.S. and Ukrainian healthcare systems, we've harnessed our backgrounds to provide vital medical humanitarian support. Collaborating with impactful NGOs, we've effectively mobilized resources and assistance. While my personal commitment is rooted in being "Ukrainian-by-marriage," this heartfelt dedication extends to a broader appreciation of the strategic importance of Ukraine's victory for the principles of freedom, democracy, & the right to self-determination—values crucial not just for Ukraine but for the USA and all societies.

Despite lacking prior experience in global health humanitarian efforts, the ongoing war has been an intensive and continuous learning journey. Over the past 2 years, we've forged meaningful partnerships with impactful groups and seasoned humanitarians in this field.

Our collaborative efforts extend to various dedicated and largely volunteer organizations, including UMANA, Rotary Club of Milwaukee, Be An Angel, Friends of Be An Angel, Mountain Seed Foundation, Give To The World, IDA Foundation in the Netherlands, Help Heroes of Ukraine, MedGlobal, and others. Additionally, we maintain close ties with volunteer partners within the healthcare networks of the University of Wisconsin, MCW/Froedtert, & other hospital systems in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Despite the profound losses and sacrifices endured by our networks of family and friends due to this war, we find solace in the remarkable connections and positive impact we've achieved.
